Digital Filter Design in Capsim

Capsim has built in interactive digital filter design capabilities. These include FIR Filter Design using the Window Method. The interactive Computer Aided Design(CAD) of FIR filters using the Parks-McClellan algorithm. Capsim supports the design of IIR digital filters. The IIR filter design package also includes the capability for interactive pole zero design. You can design IIR filters from scratch or tune existing designs or designs based on Capsim's IIR filter design package. All filter designs can be used in block diagram simulations for verification of performance and specifications.

All the capabilities highlighted in the audio visual tutorials and overview are included with the free download of Capsim including built in filter design blocks and fixed point modeling. Capsim provides source code (see open source Text Mode Capsim) for its filter design capabilities including the fixed point normalized lattice filter for implementing the most demanding specifications for IIR filters.

Pole-Zero Interactive Filter Design

The pole-zero design and simulation system provides for interactive design and simulation of IIR filters. Users can place poles or zeroes and calculate the frequency and impulse response along with group delay and phase response. Users can move poles or zeroes and immediately see the effect on the frequency (magnitude and group delay) or impulse response. Poles or zeroes can be added or deleted. The pole-zero design and simulation system can also be used to modify IIR filers designed by the IIR Filter design system in Capsim. Click on the screen shot below. Also see this screen shot.
